The application of electro tactile stimulation of tongue for rehabilitation in patients with balance disorders

Diploma the 'is deals wi th the research of effect of biofeedback in the form of electrotactile stimulation of tongue in the patients with balance disorders eaused by the cerebellar lesion. For the therapeutic program 4 patients with cerebellar ataxia at the age of38 - 74 years were chosen. Subjects have partieipated in the therapeutic program with the application of biofeedback, they were training postural stability while visual control was excluded and they were using electrotacti le signal on the tongue for orientation. I used neurological tests BESTest and Dynamic Oait Index, questionnaire The Activities- Specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale, Dizziness I Tandicap Inventory (D ll) a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and examination by stati posturography for evaluation of postural stability in the patients. I supposed that therapy by biofeedback in the form of electrotactile stimulation of tongue improves postural stability in the patients with balance disorders caused by cerebellar lesion. Adéla Slámová Title: Effects of vestibular rehabilitation in elderly people with balance disorders Abstract: The bachelor's thesis deals with the influence of the vestibular rehabilitation on the postural stability of seniors who have balance disorders. Vestibular rehabilitation has an unmissable place in this issue, as it is able to ensure the preservation of the quality of life of the elderly without the need for subsequent hospitalization. This statement is based on the fact that vestibular rehabilitation serves as a prevention against falls and increases the overall fitness of the elderly. The practical part of the bachelor's thesis deals with case studies of three patients and the application of vestibular training to these patients. The main components of this training are elements of visual motor skills, eye-hand coordination, movement planning and balance training. The main methods of data collection are the PhysioSensing Stability Platform, the 10 Meter Walk Test and the Timed Up and Go Test. The aim of the bachelor's thesis focuses on several areas. Compensation of balance disoder in time in patients after vestibular schwannana resection

Introduction: Disorders of balance and dizziness are characteristic symptoms in patients after vestibular schwannoma surgery and often have a negative impact on their quality of life. This thesis deals with impairment of postural stability particularly in patients at the long time period after surgery. The aim of this study is to observe the longitudinal development of vestibular compensation from acute postoperative period to time of several years after surgery. Another aim is to evaluate the short-term effect of vestibular rehabilitation in a long time period after surgical treatment, and to compare the results of measuring the subjective visual vertical, posturography, score of the Dizziness Handicap Inventory questionnaire, age and tumor size in these patients. Methods: Examined group consisted of 10 patients after resection of vestibular schwannoma (mean age 41.4 ± 12.1 years; 2 women and 8 men). All patients underwent intensive rehabilitation program in the acute phase after surgery. 7 patients did exercise with visual feedback, and 3 patients had conventional rehabilitation without visual feedback. Sensomotorics as a Possibility of Therapy to Influence Balanced Problems in the Elderly People

This bachelor's thesis deals with sensory-motor function and its therapeutic potential for elderly people suffering from balance disorders. The project was carried out in Geriatric Care Home in Dobrá Voda. Five participants were enrolled into the study. Following the senzory-motor training, all participants reported an improvement in postural stability and feeling save when moving.
